AMSOIL INC. has introduced a new AMSOIL 25W-40 Synthetic-Blend Marine Engine Oil to round out the family of AMSOIL marine products.

25W-40 Synthetic-Blend Marine Engine Oil is specifically designed for Mercury* motors that specify a synthetic-blend oil.

The company has simultaneously given its full marine line fresh packaging. All AMSOIL marine lubricants now boast similarly designed labels that group them into a defined product family, helping marine customers quickly determine which AMSOIL products are right for them.

 Easing the buying decision is especially important in retail settings where a knowledgeable counter person may not be available and people often make snap decisions. Their formulations and pricing remain unchanged. Because most anglers work full-time and never seem to have enough time for fishing, they value lubricants that protect their motors from wear and help keep them on the water.

Marine motors are characterized by high-rpm operation that can shear the molecular structure of oil and reduce its ability to protect against wear. “On average, a marine motor propelling a boat 30 mph operates at 5,000 rpm, while an automotive engine at 60 mph operates around 2,000 rpm. The added heat and stress invite wear and deposits,” said Len Groom, Technical Product Manager – Powersports. “Heavy deposits can cause piston rings to stick, particularly in two-stroke motors. Stuck rings lead to compression loss, which reduces power. Stuck rings can also lead to catastrophic piston scuffing.”
